When I first heard the CD from the Ensemble Phoenix Basel, I was very surprised:
Instead of the, far too often heard today, meaningless whispering on the edge
of silence, I was confronted with powerful and in between also aggressive
music, whose sculpture like quality is due, above all to the interaction of
loud dynamic with electronic components. The musicians in this phenomenal
own production prove in a convincing way that this does not automatically
lead to a loss of distinctiveness in the musical interpretation. The here
assembled compositions from Alex Buess, Tim Hodgkinson and Dror Feiler have
a esthetical credo in common: the audience will not be spared but exposed
throughout to a physical and psychical energy of high intensity
